The Nahnybida’s
Though I no longer shoot weddings, when I was asked to capture this intimate elopement for my two friends my creative heart just couldn’t say no. These two high school sweethearts have one of my favourite love stories. Their choice to get married, just the two of them with no crowd, was perfectly them. We spent the day laughing, freezing our butts off a little, and soaking in their first long-awaited moments as husband and wife. Asessippi Ski Resort was the perfect location, offering so many beautiful scenes and the coziest atmosphere. Could not have asked for a better day.
Sorenson - cake smash
Cake smashes are always so fun. Brittany did such a great job curating this session in their home. One happy dude is such a classic and timeless theme. Big thanks to Creative Creations cake for this absolutely beautiful smash cake- I know he sure enjoyed it!
Meagan - heart horse
Meagan asked me to come capture moments of her and her old faithful horse. These sessions are always a pleasure, because the love a girl has for her heart horse is truly unmatched. It was cold- but Meagan was a trooper about it. We wandered her family farm, capturing her enjoying her boy, as well as grabbing photos of some of the other farm animals along the way.
Megan + Derek
Oh, fall colours, could you last a little longer? This session definitely had some of the best fall colours of the year- and at sunset to boot! Megan and Derek travelled up to Melville to have me capture some memories, and just happened to be freshly engaged! It was a pleasure capturing their laughter, love, and genuine enjoyment of one another through these images.
Robyn + Jesse
Two of my longtime friends and their rainbow baby- what an honour. Probably almost cried several times during this session, both from laughing, and from emotional overwhelm for these two. We explored Robyn and Jesse’s future home, toured rolling golden prairie fields, and sought out the remaining fall colours. Robyn had the idea to glue some florals to her stomach, which was both beautiful and a hilarious process. So thankful to have been asked to capture these.
Loveridge Family
Would you guess that one of these kiddos was NOT having it at the beginning of the session? There were tears, big feelings, and complete avoidance of the camera- but guess what? Even in a race against the sunset we were able to slow it down, get intentional, incorporate play and build comfort, so that we could eventually get some timeless, happy photos for this family. Not all sessions are all sunshine and roses, but I promise to never rush your family, to go at your kiddos’ speed, and to prioritize comfort over the camera, every single time.
Katie + Brodie
A maternity session overlooking the valley with Katie’s grandfather’s retired tractor in the foreground in the fall was alllmossstt too much for my creative heart to handle. These types of sessions- the ones filled with meaning and intention- are 1000% why I got into this career. Katie and Brodie toured me around their favourite places all the while soaking in some last few moments as a family of two (four if you count the puppers, which I always do)!
Craib-Petkau Family
Another lovely fall session for this trio. I don’t know how they do it, but EVERYTIME they book for the best week of fall for colours. Golden yellows, soft oranges, burnt reds- it literally does not get any better. Moe could not have completed Holly and Sean’s family any more perfectly- she is a beautiful combination of their personalities and truly keeps everyone smiling the whole time.
Thomson Family
I’ve been capturing the Thomson family since before their kiddos were both born. From a handful of couples photos at a wedding I was shooting, to maternity photos, to newborn photos, to now family photos. Haley and Blaine are two of the kindest souls and they always make the sessions feel fun, welcoming, and carefree. It was a pleasure to capture the personalities of their boys that are starting to shine through with these images.
Schmidt Family
This was my second time capturing this wonderful family. Each of their kids brings such a unique personality to each picture, truly making these images full of character and one of a kind. We laughed, wandered fields, pet the horses, checked out secret forest forts, and captured authentic moments along the way. Can’t wait to capture this family for many more years to come.
Biro Family
A combo of indoor and outdoor photos for this fall newborn session was just perfect. It feels like just yesterday I was at Megan and Kyle’s farm capturing newborn photos for their firstborn, and now she’s two! Watching and capturing families grow is truly the #1 best part of this job. Welcome to the family baby H- you are already so loved by all. <3
Emma + Chase
These two ventured out to our farm to have photos captured on a rainy fall day. I think these photos are a testament to how love can outshine any weather and make it look romantic, whimsical, and timeless. Emma and Chase brought the most carefree and authentic vibe to their session- photographing them was truly easy, and a gift.
Morgan + Lucas
Holy smokes- new favourite sunset session alert! Those prairie skies DELIVERED during this session with Morgan and Lucas. They wanted sunset, they wanted rustic, they wanted heartfelt and intimate- and I think they got everything on their list! The cutest memories for the cutest pair.
Stilborn Family
It is always a pleasure catching up with + capturing memories for the Stilborn family. This year I had the pleasure of meeting Coralee’s parents and capturing memories for them with their granddaughter. Their little gal is pretty lucky to have so many grandparents in her life. <3
Ray - Graduation
What a fun and unique graduation session! Ray incorporated all aspects of her personality, and kicked off leaving highschool with a BANG. It was a pleasure to meet her wonderful family and to have the honour of capturing this transition with them. <3
Macpherson Family
I would argue that toddlers are my favourite humans to capture. They are just so fun! We play games, we laugh, we run and jump- that is what sessions are all about for me. It’s about capturing who your kiddos are, in this moment, to remember forever, and I am so happy with how that goal was accomplished with these three.
Japtha - cake smash
Ok, so I am officially all for outdoor cake smashes- so much easier cleanup! What a beautiful, sunny session this was. We started with family photos and saved the cake smash for the very end- a smart choice I must say! Little man seemed to prefer putting his feet in the cake, which made for some hilariously cute photos.
Cross Family
This sweet family took me up on one of my themed sessions this year- and it turned out SO DANG GOOD! So so happy to have captured these with them. Laundry lines, chickens, laughs, and laughs between sisters- sign me up!
Mann Family
Such a pleasure to capture yet another milestone in this family’s journey. We explored a beautiful spot down at Crooked Lake, ran through the birds, embraced the wind, and shared some laughs over sisterly bickering.
Justine + Nate
Another lovely evening spent with Justine and Nate - this time capturing their engagement photos! Their farm is so fun, and there are soooo many beautiful spots to choose from. I love their love, it is so fun, vibrant and contagious. We always share so many laughs and capture genuine moments in the process.
I’m not in it to stage a perfect moment. That’s not me - never has been.
I’m in this industry to capture authentic moments as they unfold.
That’s what I promise to do during your session. I don’t promise to stage you and pose you until ever last finger and toe look “right.”
But I do promise to seek out the perfect moments happening organically around you, and to preserve them in time.
That’s my job. That’s what I’m here for.
